Ulises Diaz
FLAMENCO SINGER, TOLEDO (SPAIN)
Ulises is a versatile singer and percussionist currently based in London since 2003 .
His specialist musical abilities include a good knowledge of flamenco and other rhythm forms and percussion instruments such as Cajon Flamenco, bongos and frame drums. He has a wide knowledge of flamenco being able to sing a wide variety of palos whether it as a main feature or supporting the dancers.
His curiosity has a led him into studying other musical traditions such as Cuban son and Sephardic song which he occasionally performs.
He is currently playing with two world music ensembles Ama Bazar and Encounters and he is part of the Flamenco Soul collective led by Jesus Olmedo
He has sang with England based flamenco companies such as Sumaya, La Tipica and Amor flamenco .
His career as a music collaborator includes playing with Eclipse and Alcazaba flamenco fusion ensembles as a soloist guest artist.
He has performed in many London venues such as Sth Ethelburgers, Ronnie Scotts the Lost Theatre and the Green Note and at the Theatre Festival of Almagro in Spain to name just a few.
He has a Masters in Ethnomusicology by the School of Oriental and African Studies in London.
