A Tale of Two Roses

October 29, 2016 @ 1:30 pm - 6:00 pm

£6

About the English war of the roses, a play I wrote in the style of Elizabethan poetry. Includes romance, tragedy, warfare, and a flamenco dance.

“When Cupid’s bow didst shoot a lily-sparrow,
Twain upon some tangled row,
Of rose-blossomed love in a midsummer grove,
Buttercup’ful of nightingale song, where
Rose’cups with pear dewdrops grow,
O’th’ hill’rest the sun logs in the sunlight’blest,
At sunny lodge, blushes the thistle’thirst thrush,
One “hundred bluebells” sat at twilight’s edge,
Sunk b’neath the sun-kissed ledge,
The path of woodland flowers in this tale,
Flaunting good colours in the greenwood’dale,
Marry, the book of love tis read,
Upon this once-upon-a-day,
Salome! My sweet love tis a’nightingale’blossomed wing,
When the nightingale sings,
A-more-the-merrier, when our earl of Warwick weds our lady,
And church bells ring”.
